4 Breakfast Ideas For People Who Don’t Like Breakfast

4 Breakfast Ideas For People Who Don’t Like Breakfast

22 Jun, 2023Nicole Saliba

There are two types of people in this world; the breakfast enthusiasts and the breakfast shunner

The ENTHUSIASTS wake up, tummy rumbling, and rush through their morning rigmarole of chores, thinking about what they're going to eat for breakfast. In fact, they probably knew what they were going to eat, the moment their eyes flickered open.

The SHUNNERS on the other hand, would prefer to chug back a tea or coffee (or some other sort of liquid nothingness) and be on their way. Lunchtime will be the first time that day that a morsel of food will hit their lips and they make sure to make up for their lack of eating now.

Breakfast Enthusiasts vs Shunners

Here's how you'll feel

As someone who moodily sways from being an enthusiast one day (or for several days in a row) and then spontaneously skips breakfast for the remainder of the week - I can confirm the following key side effects to both:

Breakfast Enthusiasts FEEL

  • Alert and mentally coherent to take on the day! Eating breakfast replenishes your supply of glucose to boost your energy levels and alertness for the day
  • Energetic! Thanks to that nice boost to your blood sugar levels & influx of fibre/vitamins/minerals
  • Mood: stable. Because by eating breakfast, you’re keeping your blood sugar levels consistent. If your blood sugar levels stay consistent that means you’re less snappy and more happy! Seriously:  “A growing body of evidence suggests a relationship between mood and blood-sugar, or glycemic, highs and lows.”

Breakfast Shunners can FEEL

  • Absolutely atrocious until they are able to shock their brains awake with some form of caffeine or sugar (or both).
  • Flat energy and mood on and off throughout the day. This is because there’s literally NOTHING fuelling your body until you eat again. You just spent 8 ish hours fasting while you slept overnight and when you wake up and continue fasting… well, you’re running on nothing. Sorry body
  • Ferociously ravenous come lunchtime. Which causes you to be snappy and impatient with others. Skipping breakfast can affect your blood sugar levels. When your blood sugars drop, your mood is affected.  Ever heard the term: "hangry"?? What’s more, your energy levels will decrease as well as your cognitive function. Everything affects everything, you see?

Which one sounds better to you?

Here’s 4 Things We Recommend Eating If You Don't Have A Massive Appetite First Thing In The Morning

1. Smoothie

We all know how to make a smoothie right? Try full fat greek yoghurt (source of protein and fat), a piece of fruit or two (banana is great, as are berries). A handful of nuts, some greens (if you like) and a squeeze of honey to add some sweetness. In the VERY LEAST, you could start like I did and just make a coffee smoothie with a banana and a scoop of protein powder. Baby steps

2. Granola

Scoop a few tablespoons of greek yoghurt into a small bowl and crumble over some of our delicious Housemade Granola With Tumeric

3. Biscuits

Sometimes, on the weekend, if I’m feeling particularly organised (or wanting to procrastinate - depends) I'll bake some easy biscuits which can also double as breakfast on days when I don't feel like eating. Now, these are not just sugary blobs of nothingness, these are clever little substitutes for a nutritional breakfast. Sometimes I’ll make banana-berry biscuits, other days I’ll do date and seed. It just depends. Actually, those are the only two I've ever made. All the other times I’ve relied on these yummy Activate options: Tray Baked Pancake, Roast Pumpkin & Feta Breakfast Bar and Paleo Banana Bread. You know what goes great with the paleo banana bread? Butter and coffee! Mwahahaha

4. The HUMBLE BOILED EGG

Two mouthfuls and you’re done. I mean, I hope you can work your way up to eating two eggs and a slice of toast with avocado on it but like I said before, BABY STEPS.

We hope you found this information useful and these recommendations can help you become a breakfast lover!  We understand sometimes getting up and making breakfast can be challenging, especially when you are in a rush!
