Local ready- made meals provider, Activate Foods are proud supporters of Coast Shelter and have been regularly donating much needed meals to help nourish the homeless community.

Activate Foods is a family owned and operated business that produces healthy and delicious ready- made meals. Run by local husband and wife team, Marty & Megan Bowen, Activate Foods believe in eating well and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. They offer fresh and frozen meals of single serve size. All products are gluten free with vegan and vegetarian options available too.

Activate Foods have been donating any fresh meals from the shop that are close to expiry and any fresh produce they have remaining in the shop prior to closing for public holidays. On average the local business drops off meals every 2-3 weeks. Coast Shelter can then use these meals on the day for dinner service and others they freeze for emergency hampers.

Megan Bowden and her husband and Activate Foods chef, Marty Bowden are genuinely committed to supporting the local community. They chose “Coast Shelter because it’s a local charity that is directly helping our community and we are able to make a positive difference with our meal donations” says Bowden. “You never know when you may need the help of Coast Shelter or a similar charity. To know that individuals can access a healthy meal in a comfortable location and get any support they may need makes us want to contribute”.

Coast Shelter has grown to include ten refuges, an amazing Community Centre and over 75 outreach properties which are spread across the Central Coast accommodating approximately 200 persons every night. Coast Shelter believes that everyone should be able to live in safe, secure, affordable housing

As explained by CEO Rachel Willis at Coast Shelter, “Homelessness can happen to anyone, in any suburb, for a wide range of reasons. A loss of a job, unexpected illness or a relationship breakdown, could put many of us at risk of becoming homeless almost in an instant”. The Coast Shelter Community Centre, located at 346 Mann Street North Gosford, provides two free meals each day and a range of practical support to those in need. “We are extremely fortunate to have the support of local businesses, community groups and individuals like Activate Foods, to help us restore hope to the lives of those who are need.” Says Rachel.

Activate Foods are committed to continuing to support Coast Shelter and other relevant organisations in the local community. To try their delicious meals yourself, you can order online at activatefoods.com.au for a Monday delivery or drop into the Erina Store open 7 days a week.
